Hello from Venice, Italy. I just heard the entire Morricone special now in full stereo on my speakers and I must admit you did a remarkable piece of work... I was curious and you choosed so many obscure & brilliant tracks. I own many soundtracks by E.M. (mostly Italian releases on the Dagored, Cinevox & Cam/GDM labels) but you surprised me with a lot of interesting & unusual selections: some of them were obviously taken from rare import cds/compilations. Uhmmm... the spelling was very hard for you sometimes (LOL!) but I wish to thank you for this competent podcast: I'll get back to it often... there is so much to learn here!
Personal E.M. favourites are: "Città Violenta", "Invenzione per John" and the amazing psychedelic mass "Il sorriso del grande tentatore".

ps I've added original release dates for most of the remaining tracks. In some cases these will be the release date of the films the tracks came from as I'm not sure if audio soundtracks were always released.

Oh and you're right Ed I think 'Duck you Sucker' is prob the best. It doesn't have the chutzpah of the dollars or the groovy sexiness of the crimes but I have never heard something so achingly fatalistic in its emotional evocation.

'Dopo L'esplosione' is without doubt one of the saddest and most beautiful tunes in the world.

Invenzione Per John...Scherzi A Parte...waffle waffle...

Excuse the enthusiasm Gents.

Cooking on gas with this one gentlemen!

Loads of stuff I ain't heard either.

With regards to Allesandroni, as far as I can tell Moderni was HIS vocal group that he started and Edie D'Elorso was pretty much the lead. Allesandroni arranged and conducted the vocals, and I suspect an awful lot more (he plays the guitar on the spaghettis I'm certain) and is maybe a contender for writing credits with Nicolai.

Though I'm no real authority. 'Scuse the spelling as well.

Perhaps that is why that stuff is so uniquely brilliant and perhaps 60/70's 'Morricone' is some kind of collective noun?

You know there is a more meaty fully realised version of Matto, Caldo etc? Heavy on the bass, vocals and a truly amazing breakdown into the 'wun, wun' thing. I found it on a cheap and cheerful cd/book Morricone Bossa (has all the posters from the films) I would say it rivals Je t'aime for the crown of perfect realised late 60s sexy 'continental' pop.

Oh hell I'll send it to you, no harm done if you got it eh?
